The UNCG Bio Club (Beta Iota Omicron) is a student organization that focuses on community service. The club was started more than 5 years ago and has contributed to the campus and surrounding communities throughout that time. Students must complete at least 10 hours of community service to become official members and the bio club sponsors a variety of social activities and seminars. There is great variety in speakers including most of the research faculty, the undergraduate research coordinator, sales representatives from Kaplan test prep, representatives from the NC zoo, etc. The UNCG Bio Club offers students the means and opportunity to learn significant information about the UNCG Biology department, student opportunities both on campus and off, and the needs of the community.
